Greetings everyone, Lot of things going on here, we will be submitting our church paperwork tomorrow (friday) as soon as we have the funds to do so, then it will take 2 weeks and we will have filed the articles of incorporation which is the first step. Once their filed we are officially a church and then its on to the IRS forms which will be more time but we have most of the questions answered so just a matter of waiting.
Issy has been working on making oils, and is excited about learning soap and candle making so that is her new venture, we have the Foxfire series which I encourage anyone to get and she will be going by that as well as internet sources. Other things planned in the future will be making maple syrup, and obviously living from our garden etc. The pumpkins and corn are looking great, we now also have a strong squash plant and 10 very tall sunflowers about to bloom. Everything else in the garden is progressing as well. The chickens are growing and now we have the problem of fighting off hawks when I let them out to play. Jack, our rooster is good about herding them to safety and warning me that the hawks are out and we herd them back into their house to safety. Needless to say we have some very disgruntled hawks since they never get a meal from our chickens. I got my first batch of blueberries yesterday very large and sweet, and I planted 3 more raspberry plants. Getting excited about fair season and will be going to the Skagit Valley Fair Aug 11, Lynden Fair Aug 16 and then Puyallup Fair Sept 11, always getting new ideas for farm progression on our little hobby farm here. Our Pagan kids will be able to come out and get pumpkins in September-October time frame.
August 8 will be the Skagit Pagan Lammas potluck at Donovan Park in Alger WA from 12-300. Bring a dish and a smile and we'll have a good time. Now, August 27-30 is our Pagan Camp-out which I have moved to Lake Tyee as we have a space up there and have already started setting up the tents and cleaning up the grounds. My focus with this will be survival skills. I started the idea a few years ago and had a good response but the idea never happened. Now that I'm out of the Army and have much more time we will learn the psychology of survival, tools of survival, edible plants, shelter, food and fire, and some medical. Also some emergency land navigation. It'll be a fun time albeit primitive to an extent. Lake Grandy charges a fee and we'll be free at Tyee I just need a good RSVP otherwise you won't get in because it is a gated community. Bring your camping gear and sense of adventure, this is open to kids as well as adults as these classes are geared to adults as well. I will be jumping back into Skagit Search and rescue as well soon as the mountains are my home and I'm very calm there so might as well help the lost as well.
We do have a network site at www.forestmoon.spruz.com it has chat-room capability and we'll announce events on the site as well. Our current calendar is as follows:
8 Aug Lammas Potluck 12-3 at Donovan Park in Alger, WA
