Reclaiming an Ancient Tradition: The Bard is Traveling Once Again

Ellensburg, WASHINGTON (July 6, 2013) : Coleen Renee, CSH, reclaims ancient Bardic tradition.

In Ancient times among the Celtic peoples, Bards traveled to teach, heal, tell stories, and play music. Through the power of story they brought important teachings to guide the people through necessary transitions. When new stories were needed, the Bards went to the land, the ancestors and shamanic journeying to find them. They were Story Catchers. This is a tradition worth reclaiming.

Bards understand patterns and cycles. They give us perspective, helping us remember and reclaim what holds true for us. Bards teach us to see our part in the web of life.

Our current stories have led us to unsustainable practices and a deep sense of isolation in our world. It’s time to catch some new stories. It’s time to connect – as our ancestors did – with the land itself; to listen deeply to those who have gone before us and left wisdom stories for us to find. It’s a time for Bards to move among us – to bring their skills in healing, teaching and storytelling to empower us to face our changing world and to chart new courses.

Coleen Renee - Story Catcher and bard – is setting forth on a 2-month journey in the ancient Celtic tradition to seek out the stories needed for our times.

Stories call to Coleen asking to be heard, asking to be shared, asking to be offered as healing. Sometimes they come forth in song or movement or teaching stories. Sometimes they come through the ancestors, angels and other helpful guides. Most recently the stories are asking to be gathered as wisdom teachings to help us heal our planet.

Coleen Renee, CSH has inherited - and spent many years developing - the gifts of the Bard. She studies indigenous traditions; facilitates Darés (healing circle from the Zimbabwe traditions) ; writes stories and music; is a Spiritual Healer; Ceremonialist; singer and performer; and storyteller. Coleen has traveled to sacred sites across the country and in England. She is a Teacher, offering apprenticeship programs to energy workers, channelers and others with healing and psychic gifts. She works with parents of gifted children to help them understand the needs of their children. Coleen is an initiated Dreamer. She has facilitated Earth-Centered and Wheel of the Year celebrations as well as Rites of Passage for more than a decade. Coleen has contributed to anthologies, newsletters, divination books and released a CD in 2007.

In Mid-August, Coleen Renee begins her travels across the country visiting sacred sites and making stops along the way to teach, heal and do story. This is the work of the ancient bard and a tradition that has increasing value in our world today. It is a Story Catcher’s journey.

Technological Twist:

In ancient times news spread of the Bard’s travels through word of mouth. Today, we have another way to travel – with technology via the web. Help spread the news of the Bard’s Travels. Visit the website to explore events, itineraries and ways you can get involved – and then pass the word along via your contacts. Also, you can follow along on the journey through her blog.

Bards have always done their work taking care of the community and in earlier times the community took care of the bard in exchange. Our times have had different structures and now the global gifting community emerges to allow this ancient tradition once more, not just for bards, but for artists and healers in all traditions. Become a sponsor for renewing this ancient tradition by visiting the campaign site at .
