Laneth Sffarlenn's Profile...
Laneth is currently 25 and living with his fiancé in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. He became engaged on the night of Saturday 9th June, 2007 to his partner of 3 years.
He is a philosopher, a dreamer, an Energy Mage and a dedicant of 17 years to an esoteric and eclectic path he calls GitheL'GereL (God`sLife'Goddess`Life – which essentially speaks of the Life which God-energy gives us, and the Cognizance & Emotion that Goddess-energy gives us.) .
The path is an amalgamated blend of traditional Shamanic beliefs from Northern America and Aboriginal Australia; the modern neo-Pagan interpretation of Celtic Druidry; neo-Pagan Witchcraft, Wicca and other new-age pagan systems of belief; Traditional & Contemporary Chinese Daoist / Bhuddist beliefs of various school; and most recently the non-faith specific teachings of "Wizardry" contained and facilitated within the online Grey School of Wizardry, founded by Oberon Zell-Ravenheart.

Laneth's short-term ambition is to move comfortably through the Apprentice course in Grey School and attain his Journeyman status. (By which time the Journeyman course should have been initiated, with the Adept/Master course being worked on.)
His other interests have recently settled and focused on the work of Scott Alexander King (http://www.animaldreaming.com) whom Laneth met and working with recently at the Melbourne "Mind Body Spirit" festival.
Laneth is currently working full-time as a Corporate Secretary close to home, whilst studying to be a qualified Alternative Therapist. His goal is to be able to offer a travelling service, presenting qualifications in multiple modalities that will benefit and aid the community.
The other main focus Laneth has shifted his gaze to is freelance writing for magazines and new-age periodicals, whilst gathering information and knowledge enough to set down his philosophies in book-format and to one day be a published author.
Laneth is currently the Editor of the Opinions Desk in the Grey School’s quarterly e-zine, “Whispering Grey Matters”. He’s served as the Editor of the “Wizarding” desk, and is a writer for both Opinions and Wizarding.
Laneth’s practices are something of an anomaly in that they aren’t easily described, and are even harder to understand, at least to most ‘traditional’ pagans who’ve grown within structured or specific belief systems. (Even he has a hard time dealing with some of the things he experiences!)
The early years of Laneth’s path were fairly limited, with little resources and understanding – he was only 7 years old. Ritual and the general conformity to a standard set of correspondences, (coupled with a lack of new information) , eventually drove Laneth to consult his imagination and the world of Fantasy. From this came a lot of Laneth’s long-held and deep-seated beliefs, from which many of his current theories and beliefs stem.
Giving up on ritual, and many of the generic wiccan-oriented practices that are strewn through at least 60% of ‘neo-pagan’ books, Laneth moved to a deeper sense of being, tied specifically and ultimately to the Earth and the basic energy make-up of all things.
(His explorations into the Etheric realms has allowed him to couple his knowledge of Hypnosis & Past-life regression with Astral Travel; he’s continually studying the energy signatures that various objects give off, whether alive or inanimate, with the intent to one day document and extrapolate on the Etheric Personality inherent in all Creation, giving basis for his theory on what out Subconscious gets up to when we’re not paying attention and what this means to our daily lives, and our futures.)
At one time Laneth was both a member & co-moderator of a Melbourne-based Youth Support group called Temple of the Winds, (http://www.witchvox.com/vn/vn_detail/dt_gr.html?a=auvic&id=16827) , which is a non-faith specific social forum for teens and young adults to come and share their beliefs, their thoughts & philosophies and their personal stories. It also acts as a support group for those people who has suffered or is suffering from unfair discrimination, whether it be about beliefs, religion, race, colour etc. Those who run the group have grown through their experiences and offer their perspective in an advisor / guide-like manner.
Over time, Laneth has played the role of Mentor & Teacher to various people, whether formally or through impromptu meetings / discussions. These people have ranged from his peers to people as young as 10 years old (under the supervision of their parents, or with the parents’ permission) . He has also filled the role of counsellor for people within the same age-span.
Laneth’s empathy and compassion for others has allowed him a unique opportunity from a very young age, in that people from all age groups feel an immediate affinity with him, opening up and sharing secrets and stories, pains and troubles and ideas that they would otherwise keep to themselves.
Supporting his psychologically ill mother and disabled brother growing up, Laneth saw the world from the eyes of both a child and a carer, which caused him to grow up quite fast early. This brought many challenges, but has ultimately granted many more rewards insofar as to say that Laneth has experienced so many challenges and setbacks that he is able to support, guide and counsel others through similar situations from first-hand experience, ie. Physical & emotional abuse; divorce; step-parents; teenage angst; small-town oppression; spiritual intolerance; getting kicked out of home by his parents & living independently at age 17; dealing with having a psychological illness; failed relationships; years of unemployment; living with in-laws, etc etc. Laneth’s life reads as one tragedy and melodrama after another, but he sees them as gifts given him for the lessons learned and wisdom earned.
