I am a professional musician now living in Courtenay on Vancouver Island. I am a vocalist and harpist and have recorded three albums. I have sung opera, medieval, renaissance, baroque and traditional music from many countries, but find myself more inspired to reveal the subtle ways that we are all influenced by the ebb and flow of nature. My performances now consist of primarily my own compositions as well as improvisations drawing upon (and giving to) the energies of the gathering.
I met my partner on my birthday 17 years ago and we have been together ever since. In 1997 we gained our little bundle of fur, Sonja, and she exasperated (and enlivened) our world up until her passing in January of 2009. On December 31, 2010 we adopted two cats from our local SPCA. Kohaku (Japanese for Amber) is a lovely short haired calico who had been completely emaciated when she was discovered on a local country road, and Shiro Kuma (Japanese for White Bear) is a big white long haired purr ball who really loves to chat!
I have recently set up the floor loom in a bay window and am in the processes (if life would finally slow up a bit) of starting to weave again. I am delving into the path of craft (hand) as a spiritual journey and a more concrete expression of connection to nature/energies/God/Goddess to balance the ephemera of music.
