M. J. Mandoki's Profile...

I would especially love to hear from people who are interested in philosophy of death, the afterlife and near-death experiences.

I was born and raised in Hungary. I moved to London, Ontario, Canada, at age seventeen. I attended Western University (University of Western Ontario) earning a B. A. (Honours) in philosophy and French literature. After a few years of work, I returned to school to get an M. A. in philosophy at Brock University. I focused on Eastern Philosophy and defended my master’s thesis called Philosophy of Death in Plotinus and Vedanta. Then, I enrolled in a PhD program at McMaster University. I withdrew from the philosophy program in good standing in 2013. Currently, I am enrolled in an interdisciplinary, graduate program, completing my PhD at Western University. My PhD thesis is on near-death experiences.

After leaving the uncompleted PhD program in 2013, I poured my passion into creative writing. I decided to dedicate my life to philosophically inspired creative works that help everyday people ask meaningful questions and seek meaningful answers mainly about the mystery of life and reality. I often focus on unusual, anomalous experiences that are difficult to explain without asking serious philosophical questions, such as “What is the meaning of my life?”, “What is real?” or, “What should I do with my life?”.

I released my first novel, The Curse, on October 1, 2014 and my second book, a collection of stories, Real Life Choices, on July 19, 2015. I also participate in short story contests. I have several short stories published in Canadian Anthologies.

In the field of philosophy, I am interested in epistemology, philosophy of death, philosophy of religion, metaphysics and ontology. Outside philosophy, I am interested in near-death experiences, death-bed visions, reincarnation theories, mysticism, Greek mythology, English literature, Hungarian literature, altered states of consciousness (lucid dreaming, meditation, visualization, precognition, remote viewing and telekinesis) and outlaw motorcycle clubs (strictly academic interest) .

I am one of the organizers of a closed Consciousness Club at Western University, run by a professor who is an expert in altered states of consciousness. Our past guest speakers included a psychic medium, a near-death experience survivor and a meditation expert among others. The group plans to have experiments on remote viewing and past life regression in the near future. If anyone who lives in London, Ontario, Canada is interested in joining, please, contact me.

I consider my spirituality private. Therefore, I conduct all my spiritual exercises and rituals in private, as a solitary practitioner.

Please, contact me on my email address, if you would like to send any message: mjmandoki@gmail.com. I check my email account daily.
