Greetings friendly profile viewing people!
My name is Nathan, I'm a 23 year old pagan from Newark in Nottinghamshire who lives with his partner of 5 and a half years in their newly purchased Victorian House. We have a Cat (Gem) and a Gerbil (Joe) who constantly try to eat each other, we both work, neither of us drive. We've pretty average really. My partner isn't pagan himself, but he's sympathetic and enjoys eastern philosophies such as Toaism.
Anyhoo, I'm sure I don't need to bore you with my life story...
I classify myself as an eclectic pagan as I have a belief system which I've come to through my own experience and reasoning. I've been following pagan philosophies since around the age of 8 years old. I'm not ashamed to admit I went into paganism specifically interested in the witchcraft side, and I have no problem admitting that it first started trying to make Harry Potter spells work.
I'd like to think I've come a long way since those days. My interest in paganism has, over the years, exposed me to a whole manner of different beliefs and practices. From observing wiccan circles to seeing a voodoo sacrifice I've become open to most beliefs and practices that people have to offer. I like to consider myself very open minded. Yet, I'm very curious! Do not mistake my "Why do you believe that" for mockery, it's a genuine interest and curiosity, and likewise feel free to ask me anything yourself!
I am very practical in my own belief system. I'm a keen follower of science, psychology and sociology. And I have a particular fascination with history and how religions develop. This interest (combined with my interest in witchcraft) has lead to me to explore and read a whole host of literature over the years, from modern books such as Vivienne Crowley right back to books such as the Key of Solomon or Agrippa's Occult Philosophies. I find the links between old practices and modern day strangely alluring and am always looking to develop my knowledge in all areas!
I am also a member of Hearth and Home: The Newark Pagan Community. Which is a local group that meets up a few times a month for either a social moot, or a discussion group etc. You'll find us on Facebook and of course feel free to personally message me here! As you can see from the age of this profile, I've been on here a while now and have met some wonderful people!
