Cilsant's Profile...
T.S. Eliot said, "We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time." Never has this been more true in my life than now. To me, Eliot's quote speaks of coming home - and while I believe our souls 'come home' in many different ways (finding its source, returning for another lifetime) - this applies more eminently to the idea that we can return to ourselves...to the person we were when we were at our best.
I think we all get waylaid by life, and we change in both good ways and bad. While the good changes are things we endeavor to make a permanent part of our 'self', the bad changes are often things we didn't intend to embody. Whether becoming jaded by life, bitter through bad experiences, or gathering addictions, bad habits, and a penchant for selfishness, we all 'become' towards both the light and the dark. And when one begins to ask the question "who have I become, and am I happy with this person?" the next step in the journey becomes imperative: to find your way back to the person you were when you were at your best.
In the end, this is often the place we've all started. A place of love, trust, understanding, open-mindedness - a place that defies fear and refuses to give in to the challenges and growth opportunities presented. This is the self that survives, the self that overcomes, rather than being overcome.
It's taken many years for me to return to this place, and now that I have, I'm seeking others to celebrate with me what I've always known yet allowed myself to forget: life is beautiful, even in its darkest moments. The ebb and flow of the cycles is to be celebrated and taken part in, not simply to sweep us away into a chaotic sea of chance.
I am a married, white female of Welsh ancestry who has been blessed with two beautiful daughters, a thoughtful and loving husband, two Siberian Huskies, and a Himalayan/Siamese mix cat who fancies herself Empress of All She Sees. Perhaps most importantly, I am a Celt, and I live by the Nine Celtic Virtues, or Nine Traditions: Wisdom, Piety, Vision, Courage, Integrity, Perseverance, Hospitality, Moderation, and Fertility. I attempt to live my life according to these, and I find when I am NOT living according to the virtues of my ancestors, my life becomes out of balance. These are the laws I live by, and I believe everything that is a part of this world is sacred, and in some way offers us teachings of these virtues.
My field of study in school is History (double major with English) , with a specialization in medieval history and literature. I moved to Colorado in April of 2011, and am new to the Springs. I'm interested in friends if the person is right, teaching if the student is right, attendance of group events if the group is right, and social/spiritual networking of all sorts; I am happy to do what I believe the gods have called me to do: learn what I don't know, and teach others along the way the things I do. Along the way, the path I walk is one of love.
I will be clear: I am not a High Priestess, nor have I attained the status of Druidess (as I believe it takes many, many years of walking a path to attain the honorable title that denotes you embody the Celtic Virtues) . I am a teacher, and a student of life myself. More formally, I am a student of the Sacred Celtic Order of Balance Church, located in St. Michael, Minnesota. I have studied for six years under the tutelage of Sr. Druidess, the Reverend Jayme Wickman, first locally when I lived in Minnesota, and then remotely after I relocated. If you would like information on the Church, please feel free to visit the web address provided in my profile.
If you're interested in chatting, visiting for coffee or a pint, please feel free to email me and we can visit through email a bit and get to know one another.
May your gods and ancestors smile on you,
Cilsant
