Hello, my name is Merlinnus Nighthawk. I'm the founder of the Northern Woods Tradition and the Oak Coven as well as the current High Priest of the Oak Coven. I started off when I was 16 as a solitary Wiccan studying and learning as I went. I eventually took a break for two years to try out Christianity since I found the religion (like all religions) to be very beautiful. It wasn't to my liking however as there was too many things I disagreed with so I returned to Wicca once more as a Solitary. I joined the Grey School of Wizardry (I am a Wizard as well as a Wiccan =D ) and spent about a year in the Sacred Mists Tradition before joining a local Coven here in Georgia, USA where I was stationed. I eventually became High Priest of this local Coven but due to too many outside problems as well as internal problems that Coven quickly collapsed and became no more. After that I returned as a Solitary with more emphasis on my path of Wizardry. I joined a local Paranormal Investigation team called Ghost Wolf Paranormal Investigations Georgia where I serve as a Case Manager and Occult Specialist. Some where along the way I felt this strong urge to start teaching Wicca. I tried to put it off for awhile but the feeling that I was supposed to be teaching only grew stronger and stronger as the days progressed. Soon a fellow Witch of mine messaged me out of the blue asking if I could teach him Wicca and magick in general, I knew then the God and Goddess were trying to point me in the right direction. So I embraced the role of teacher. From this one student three more came, and soon I had 5 students all wanting to learn Wicca. So I meditated, spoke with my spirit guide, and prayed to figure out what is the best way to go about this. I was told to form a Coven and forge a new tradition where these students could learn, come together as a family, and seek the God and Goddess on their personal paths. I then created the Northern Woods tradition and the Oak Coven. I will say that when I started off learning Wicca I never dreamed that I would one day be teaching it to others and that the greatest reward so far on my path is being able to pass along what I know to those who seek it.
I'm currently in the U.S. Army as a Military Police Officer but I'm in the process of being medically discharged to back and leg problems. I'm actually due to be out by March of this year. I'm happily married and have no children at this time save two dogs and two cats =) I currently reside in Georgia, USA but I am originally from Michigan USA. Michigan is my favorite state though! I'm an avid reader of all kinds of books ranging from non-fiction to fiction. My favorite fictions books are of the fantasy genre. I love Lord of the Rings, Dresden Files, and Harry Potter. I also enjoy nature walks especially in the fall when the leaves are changing colors and its still warm out. I adore thunderstorms, I find them peaceful and empowering.
