Albiana's Profile...
I was an eclectic pagan for 20+ years before deciding that traditional lineaged-style Wica is what best spoke to me. After years of seeking, I was at last blessed to find a BTW group that I could call family. With years of study and much wonderful coven commeraderie, I am now a 3° Gardnerian HPS and soon to be starting a coven of my own.
So while "a Traddie, " I am still very open-minded and fairly conversant of other styles of witchery beyond that with which I choose to work today and hope to learn from others as much as they learn from me.
I greatly enjoy participating in British Traditional Witchcraft practice and have chosen to work in the lineaged Gardnerian path in particular. Doing so continues to speak to me in its "old school" method of teaching and learning through direct interaction within a coven of like-minded, consistantly-trained people.
However, I realize that such a structured and disciplined form of spiritual expression is not the best place for everyone --- that while I may be perfectly happy in such an environment, it does not preclude me from being friendly with other witches and pagan folks who are not also of my trad.
Although very proud of the work I've accomplished in the way I have been taught, you'll find no "Hard Gard" here....that is unless you think it is fair to stereotype and dismiss me for a stodgy, uptight jerk before even bothering to get to know who I am or what I'm about. If that's your deal, then all bets are off and you can expect to encounter someone just as full of vitrol and sardonic backlash as you'd anticipated! *wide, wry grin*
Joking aside, I am of the belief that modern witchcraft practice should be both revolutionary and evolutionary, and as such, there's plenty of room enough under this umbrella called witchcraft for both the breadth of expression to be found in eclecticism and also the depth of experiential practices upheld by traditionalist folks like myself.
To my eyes, neither way is better than the other, and truth be told, they both essentially stem from the same root (like it or not) . Therefore, it seems meet that we should recognize and honor one another for the distinct, beautiful and diverse practices we choose to use.
After all, we ultimately share common goals --- that of honoring the Gods, enriching the world around us and constantly evolving as wondrous human beings!
