Personal Profile for...
Magickal Path: Gardnerian & Arthurian BTW
Age Group: Adult
Sun Sign: Aries
Occupation: Telecom. Specialist
Relationship Status: Married
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Located in: Walnut Hill- Centralia, Illinois
Likes: Riding Motorcyles...H-D, Jewelry making, Knifemaking, Archery, Leatherworking, Holsters, Artistic endeavors such as Drawing, Sculpting, Tattooing, ( I have been a Tattooist for 30+ years) , and Maskmaking... Our mass of special monster cats, and especially meeting people who have a desire to learn, (This is my single greatest joy, to teach) . I am a Browncoat and Flan as well. Shiny....
Dislikes: I have issues with people who "want" me to hand them all of the secrets of the Universe, but who are unwilling to take personal responsibility in their life to make a change for the better, or those who insist that they deserve everything right now without any of the personal work. All paths of self discovery and self realization are difficult. If it were easy, we would all be as Buddha and Christ, and yes, I read Amber and Jet too....LOL!
I am the HP of one of the Gardnerian covens in Southern Illinois. As a separate issue, I am also co-creator of the Arthurian Path, which is separate and unique from the Gardnerian Tradition. I also am currently teaching Witchcraft and related classes, which includes but is not limited to: Scourge and Sword/Athame making, Gardnerian tools from scratch, Altars, and just about anything Craft... along with other assorted Pagan flavored classes out of "Susan's Sanctuary", in Central City, Illinois, which is a northern suburb of Centralia Illinois, 62801. You can find the shop listed on this Witchvox site or call (618) 532-0520...
Basic information on the Gardnerian Tradition and BTW as well as information on the Arthurian Path can be found at the various sites listed below...:
My name is Arwythur, 51 years old, a Water Tiger/ Aries and "Olde School" Biker. I am originally from Buffalo, (New York) . I have lived in the Centralia area since Jan 1st of 2004. I was in Springfield Illinois for 10 years prior to being transferred to Southern Illinois. I Have earned Three degrees in 14 years of collage, (Masters of Fine Arts, Masters of Psych, and a Doctorate in Divinity, specifically comparitive Religious Studies) . All that means is I can listen and remember what I read, and I can't spell worth a damn...
I have been an active Pagan since 1990, and a lineaged Gardnerian of the Louisville Line since 1993. Both my wife "Thea", (also listed under Centralia) , and I are of the 3rd degree within the Louisville line of the Gardnerian Tradition.
I am also an Elder/Founding Member in the "Arthurian" Path, a BTW sub-group.
I Have taught & I am currently teaching several Wicca 101 classes, as well as a 201 Outer Court, and have helped out with several new Eclectic Experimental groups in my immediate area, mostly because BTW is NOT for everyone. We are genuinely looking for those of like mind to communicate with, as well as work with. We are currently holding regular Sunday meetings for serious seekers looking to join a BTW Gardnerian Coven with lineage. Holiday celebrations are very important for us, as well as personal discretion, especially in dealing with the mundane community at large.
Any seeker who may wish to become a student, and any others who are sincere about learning Wicca and/or witchcraft, may email through this site, or call my cell, but please remember that becoming a 3rd degree BTW of either Path is a long and difficult journey, starting with a certain amount of time spent interviewing and working out if it's good for everyone involved, we are of course very selective of who we would invite into our lives and our homes for 4+ years of serious work...
We as a group, believe the Craft alone cannot "Fix" dysfunctional behavior, mental illness, or even the everyday trials and issues that we all as individuals must face. You must be willing to release your treasured wounds, let go the drama, accept that your priorities will be shifted periodically hopefully for the better, (don't worry, Family, work, and life come first before Craft when it comes to group participation) , and that it's not all sparkles and glitter. It takes a minimum of a year and a day, working together as a group, in a regular "CRAFT" type way, before the discussion of Initiation is even brought up. It's very much like adopting children/family. General Gardnerian information can, and may be found, by surfing the web. I would be willing to answer any honest and sincere questions that anyone would have about the faith, coven roles, expectations, and/or the responcibilities of an initiate. Yes this can be done without breaking any Oaths.
If you think that BTW (British Traditional Wicca ) , especially the sub-groups known as Gardnerian or Arthurian, may be the Path for you, please feel free to contact me and we'll talk about it, no strings, no commitments to the group. I personally do not believe that this particular path is a "something for everyone" catch-all though. We must always ask, "Is the family good for you and are You good for the Family".
We would like to talk with all interested people, and help as much as possible in guiding/helping those who are sincere, to find their niche, their place... even if it's not necessarily with "Our" group, also, a comittment to join isn't necessarily needed for discussions or for the answers to questions. In the past, (for those who do not wish to be BTW) , we have referred many of the seekers that we have put through the Wicca101 to other working groups, (including Dianic, Asatru, Druidic, and other forms of British Traditional groups ) , when it was obvious to those involved that Gard, BTW, or the Arthurian pathwork might not be as fruitful or fufilling to a specific individual's needs, those who had other issues, other issues which mandated that the day-to-day existance had to be met first, (see Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs) ... we are always willing to try to help someone "connect" with themselves and their own particular Path.
There are by necessity some hard and fast rules. If for any reason, you feel uncomfortable, you may always "Vote with your feet". (It's sad that I have to explain that as you can always walk away, there is no need to put up with anything you don't want to deal with) . There should never, NEVER! be a charge, (no matter what the currency, ie: money, sex, servitude, etc.etc.) for learning. You decide what is right and correct for you, nobody else. If you have to get a "spouse/significant Other" to approve or agree to let you seek or practice your faith, then possibly it may not be the right time/place for you to go looking where no one else can walk for you. Finding yourself requires time, energy, and a willingness to work for a better you/tomorrow. If that seems like too much, again, reconsider. You get back 3 fold what you invest, but you must be willing to take that first leap of blind faith and TRY!. We have all been somewhere lost, at one time or another...
I am also one of the founding members/Elder of The Church of Reformed American Foundationalist Theologians, (C.R.A.F.T.) which has been around for about 17 years, since 1995. Currently we are seeking a building site for a Sanctuary/Retreat somewhere in the Southern part of Illinois. We do ordain ministers of the faith, (complete with credentials) , and we have performed several Handfastings, Wiccanings, Non-Denominational Weddings and Funerals in the last 19+ years as Clergy and as Craft.
I have found many others like me in the Southern Illinois area. We have made some good friends as well as built the start of a good network for those of like mind. We have an Outer Court Group that meets every Sunday at my house, and it is always open to those who are wanting to be trained in a traditional way, just email me and we will talk. Those seekers who may wish to become Gards or Arthurian, or those who would just like to get together and share thoughts and ideas may contact us at any time to talk and discuss the possibilities. If you would like to communicate, please feel free to send an email, and I will respond.
If you should have any difficulty finding answers to questions, any questions, or need some suggestions for good reference books, please feel free to E-mail us through this site, and I will answer all serious inquires, Craft or Personal. Please do not send information to try to "help" me find Jesus or Your God...I am quite comfortable with my own. Thank You.
