I began in the Craft at 18 ( mostly because back then if you weren't, no one would touch you) My original training Coven was on the Southside of Chicago and was Priestessed by a Lovely woman from England by the name of Lady Mara. Mara's lineage hailed back to one of Alex and Maxines London Coven's. I studied Tarot from the age of 14 and stood in my official first circle shortly after turning 18 ( and then only after 6 months of interviews and many phone calls) . The Craft 30 years ago was very different than it is now, there was No internet, and very little was in published form. You got your reading done at your High Priestesses house as well as copying out your Book of Shadows at her dining room table. Contacts were made by and through the Man in Black or Summoner. There was little contact via the telephone. Looking at the Craft today, it sometimes is overwhelming. For those seeking information today, this site is a great resource, but don't just stop here. Seek out others everywhere, use your intuition, and your common sense. I have seen many people come and go in the Craft, I have 5 Covens that have hived from me, I have stood back to see them grow, prosper, contract, whither, break apart, ressurect, restructure, and grow yet again. This is the nature of the Craft. Survival. Knowledge is Power. And in the words of Doreen Valiente ..."Keep pure your highest Ideals, Strive ever towards them, Let nothing Stop you nor Turn you Aside..."
