Laurelei Black's Profile...
I am an initiated HPS in the Clan of the Laughing Dragon, a tradition based heavily on 1734 and Druidic practices. However, I no longer strictly practice that path. Instead, I have formed a new tradition with one of my life and magical partners Glaux/Noctua. Though based heavily on British Traditional Craft (as presented by Cochrane and his ilk) , we are cognizant of the American influence of our predecessors and our own surroundings. We therefore refer to this new path as American Folkloric Witchcraft.
I am also a member in good standing of the Ordo Templi Orientis (OTO) and am in the Man of Earth triads therein.
With my partners Glaux and ferratusdraconis, I help organize the Babalon Rising Pan-Thelemic Festival each June. In September, Glaux and I host the Women's Goddess Retreat. I am also looking into organizing a regional magical writers' retreat in association with our family-owned publishing company, Asteria Books.
I am the author and editor of several books, including Aphrodite's Priestess, Cult of Aphrodite, and Crown of Violets. With Glaux, I've co-authored the titles in Asteria Books' OWL Series. I am also the managing editor of THE BALEFIRE, a magical magazine for the Midwest.
Glaux, ferratusdraconis and I live in a multi-generational home with (my) parents and (our) children, cats, rabbits, chickens, and bees. Obviously, not all of us can have indoor privileges. (Ancient wisdom: Chickens make lousy housepets.)
