You've not moved on yet? I'm amused. Okay, I'll write something relevant to Witchvox.
You may be wondering what my definition of Utilitarian Asatru is. There are two, the serious and the mildly humorous. Serious first. Doing one's best to live inside of the Nine Virtues, seeing them more as philosophy and a way of life rather than holy writ or harsh unbending Law. When I need the Gods, which is rare, they are there for me, when I don't, I stay out of their hair, and they stay out of mine. Its utilitarian because it is very stripped-down, portable and handy, like a spiritual multi-tool. Virtually indistinguishable from Buddhist Shinto in many ways, in fact.
Mildly humorous. I'm Asatru because I'm melanin-challenged, i.e., my complexion is pale, my ancestry is probably European for the past few tens of thousands of years in my blood family line, and somewhere in the misty past there was at least one Viking in the woodpile, since my eyes are blue and my hair is red. Asatru fits me better than these strange imported desert Zoroastrian religions, though I've little against them, save the annoying fanatics they generate. Its utilitarian, because I deeply believe that there is only one useful way to hang toilet paper, which is with the roll hanging away from the wall, and not next to the wall. The other way is not as useful, since you bash your fingers on the wall, which slows you down and is not as efficient. Other people feel differently, they are wrong. This belief can be expanded and seen to include all things.
