nasionnaich's Profile...
Mitakuye Oyasin ("All my relatives", in Lakota) ... I'm still new to the Pagan thing, always will be; learning is a never-ending process, so please don't be upset if I make mistakes. . . I am currently (actually, I am again) delving into Native American Indian religious beliefs and rituals, and am finding a lot of corollaries 'twixt them and Wicca and European Paganism.
I'm a countrified city boy (or is that a citified country boy?) , born in 1962, who likes the "new-age" music as well as folk, blues, country, Native American Indian, etc., etc; But don't ask me to listen to Rap or Acid Metal! It may be weird, but I seem to have an affinity for skunks and foxes, don't really care for raccoons much though. I am ex-military (USAF) , try to be non-violent as much as possible, but I am all for military means of "diplomacy" ***when all else fails*** (sure wish certain politicians and their adherents would understand - and practice - this philosophy) . . .
I have an interest in archery, and I build my own arrows -- if you would like to see some of my arrows just ask. I also have an interest in attending/participating in Medieaval-style Archery competition (no compound bows, no modern gadgetry allowed -- "Traditional" Archery only) -- The Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc (SCA) , an International Medieaval Re-Creation/Re-Enactment not-for-profit Educational organization; although I am not currently active in the SCA, my "persona" was an approximation of an 8th/9th Century Pict/Norse (it's what got me interested in Paganism to start with) .
If anyone wants to inquire about the SCA, please see the website listed...if y'all want to chat via e-mail, please be patient as I do not always have time for the internet every day of the week; I ***work*** for my bread 'n butter (I do not consider sitting at a desk all day to be "work", even if it does keep one busy, since a person rarely - if ever - works up a sweat while sitting at an office desk. It's just the way I am...) ; I do not have the luxury of being able to sit on my butt all day long surfing the 'net (even though I am currently unemployed) . Yes, I can be highly opinionated (aren't we all, in some way?) , yet I am also open to the ideas - and ideals - of others as well. If you respect my right to my own thoughts, I will do the same for you. It has been said that "Actions speak far more loudly than words"; I happen to agree with this, and believe that a person's actions will show what they truly believe in - and this includes ***how*** they say something - no matter what they may say otherwise (double-speaking politicians, take note) .
If anyone can help me to learn more about Paganism in general, such help would be greatly appreciated and not turned away. Somebody out there knows far more about it than I do....
The websites listed in this profile are for the SCA and the Internet Sacred Text Archive (a really good source for Religious Beliefs research!) , they are not my own. Take care, and may y'all be Blessed in all you do -- unless y'all are of the double-speaking, double-dealing political persuasion (in which case, may all you do come back three-fold to bite you on your heinie, both in this life and the next) ! For taking the time to read all of this, I say Pidamayo (Lakota for "Thank You") . ----nasionnaich (the name is Irish Gaelic, for "The Fox" [na sionnaich] - I think) **my "avatar" is Olaf the Stoat, conceived, drawn and brought to life in the 1980's by a great person and wonderful artist named Keith Nelson.
