"I used to be very much concerned with what kind of car I drove, the style of my clothes, the career I had, and the certifications I could use in an email signature. I was so wrapped up in these things, along with having the latest electronic gadgets, eating at all the 'right' restaurants and purchasing the 'right' coffee, and making a respectable amount of money because that is what western culture and American society pushes through increasingly absurd marketing campaigns, the unceasing expansion of capitalism into every aspect of life, and an education system geared toward churning out career-seeking, mindless drones.
I'm glad to have awoken from this sheep-like state and wish more people would also. I consider myself luck that I've figured out that my identity doesn't come from any of this stuff, but I've also realized that you can only come to that realization if you're brave enough to challenge that system and even walk away from it. I don't say these things with arrogance, but with regret that I'm joined by so few people who refuse to give into the paradigms and step out of the boxes into which they're packaged.
If I could offer just one simple piece of advice to people what would it be? Live a life free of debt and regret, but full of giving and compassion. The sooner you figure out how to express yourself though this way of living, the better off we'll all be." --Peter Beckley
Peter is a Pagan entrepreneur, artist, writer, and homesteader. He maintains several web properties including his own art site, and That Witchy Place, the site dedicated to providing seekers with information on reconnecting with the Divine and nature through good works as ritual. He has also joined Witches&Pagans magazine as a contributor to their PaganSquare site.
He's traveled around the world, and experienced many cultures and spiritual faiths, and wants to do more of it.
