Haley Lynn Shoemaker

Magickal Path: Solitary Eclectic Wicca Age Group: Adult Sun Sign: Capricorn Occupation: Student Gender: Female Relationship Status: Domestic Partner Sexual Orientation: Bi-Sexual
Located in: Fargo, North Dakota

Likes: Reading, writing, walking, climbing trees, observing and interacting with people, traveling, listening to music and more mundane amusements like movies, video games, fantasy books, etc.,
Dislikes: Small-minded or bigoted people of all kinds (though my biggest problems really do lie with homophobes) . People trying to define what constitutes a "real wiccan", and, similarly, feeling like I have to prove my faith continuously. I doubt myself more than every pagan, neopagan, witch, wiccan, shaman, or druid ever could, but I don't want every single one of them to chime in, either! Bashing of anyone. People who sniff and sniff and never blow their nose.
Haley Lynn Shoemaker's Profile...
I am 22 years old. I have been practicing wicca for about a decade now. I have done some work with raw energy and some minor herb magic. I love kitchen witching, tarot and runecasting. I have not yet begun to delve into formal spellwork (casting circles, candles, chanting, etc) , and I'm looking forward to beginning that progress. I live in a somewhat rural, conservative area. As a solitary, I've often wanted more guidance than all the books and internet sites in the world could give me. You cannot interact with either. I interpret Wicca as respecting yourself, others, and the world around you. I try to live up to this, and I try to make the world better. Don't we all? The notion that any little good you can do affects everything else gives me the strength to keep trying, to keep fighting. I think of divinity as being more of a force, an energy, and that it is balanced by having both male and female aspects. These aspects have many names and guises, many different ways of manifestation. I tend to think of the world as being alive, to the extent of furniture and appliances having personalities, so I guess I also believe in animism. My faith is eclectic in every sense of the word, and my beliefs are still growing and changing. I draw from everything that speaks to me, from history to psychology to sociology to mythology. I particularly like Joseph Campbell and Carl Jung! I am a firm believer in the Rede. I accept any other beliefs, so long as they don't involve disrespect or mistreatment of others. No bashing, and no ritual sacrifice of small furry animals! (I'm continually shocked by how much the subject comes up!) I have found in many pagan sites, people will turn to bashing christians. I don't like attempts to "convert" me either, but come on now, lets be the bigger people! We're supposed to be above petty generalizations! Not all christians want to throw us in vats of holy water and see if we float! It's one thing to complain about Great Aunt Edna making a scene about your pentacle at Christmas, but its another to bring a whole religion under fire. And as far as the past goes, I see it as even. Romans (who were technically pagan) threw christians in the Colessuem, and later christians burned witches. Hate breeds hate. All of it was horrible, all of it was unfair, all of it is over. (Ok, I'm almost done ranting... Work with me here.. just a bit more...) The other thing I have found is that many of my pagan books, the sites I've visited, ect. become rather elitist. We have a good, solid belief system going on here, but it's about accepting others, not condeming them for differing opinions! Snobbish behavior doesn't help anybody! Whew! Glad I got that out! Now that I'm done ranting, I can start pleading. If anyone has anything to tell me, take the time to email. I don't care if its scathing insults accusing me of blasphemy, tell me anything!
