I became more aware of Earth Religions many years ago after reading "Earth Medicine" by Kenneth Meadows and have been intrigued ever since. Being part Native American (Narragansett) , Earth-Based Religions speak to me.
Aponi is the name I've chosen for myself. It is a Native American word that means "Butterfly." Being a Gemini, an Air sign, I am associated with the Butterfly Clan. Butterflies were chosen as the totem for elemental Air because it is a creature that is constantly moving, always active, always shifting its position from one place to another. Butterflies also have great transformation powers, and people of the butterfly clan naturally transform things.
I find peace in the woods whether it be sitting under a tree enjoying a cool breeze and the smell of fresh earth, or lying on the grass, gazing up at the clouds, admiring their natural artwork before it fades into yet another amazing image.
I would like to share the following quote I found online; it is one of my favorites:
