It is a certainty that if I do not actively engage my mind with learning and engage my spirit in creation, that I will wither and die. So I approach life as a scientist, with the reverence of a monk, the passion of a lover, and with the open mind and joy of a child. Or, I at least try to! My post-college curiosity, powered by the internet, has developed into a habit of self-education. I like to know how things work, how it all came to be, and what the other theories are. This is how I turned a sewing hobby into a skill and led me into the world of custom costume design, and costuming for film and theater. When I’m not sewing, you can find me in my studio drawing, sculpting, or making jewelry. And when I need a break, I turn to cooking, reading, relaxing in the "great outdoors", entertaining friends, dancing, practicing yoga, indulging in a horror movie, or playing the occasional RPG or survival horror game.
The history of my spiritual development starts with stories. It all began with the archetypes I encountered in literature. From there, I turned to history. And when the internet entered onto my life's stage, the world opened and I discovered that magic really exists and it's so much better than I imagined. I've read and dabbled (a "dirty" word to some, I know!) into many traditions, though not one totally felt like home. I am currently revamping my personal practice to craft something completely personal, with an emphasis on experience, meditation, devotional art, and a large helping of Zen Buddhism.
The Home I have found was in the mystery called unconditional love. Through my marriage and my friendships I have learned about the healing and transformation it can bring. It is a flower that unfolds more everyday; a treasure I wish I could share with the world.
