I , Judy, am currently a member of Herne's Temple in Dayton, OH. I used to be a Methodist and was, for many years in an inter-faith marriage with a husband who was first a solitary magic user, then became Wiccan. I converted after I encountered Christians more fundamentalist than I was raised with and read the Bible. I brought to Wicca a lifetime of reading and loving fairy tales and myths and a lifetime love of nature. (My late mother and I was/am birders. I have always, whatever my faith, connected to the divine more profoundly while walking in the woods or sitting by a lake than in any ritual or rite. I tend to connect more with other believers during rites.
I am a retired engineering lab tech. I used to work on 1. Kitchenaid dishwashers and 2. Delphi ABS systems. I loved math but don't feel any loss of the former tech. skills. Strangely I relate more to organisms than machines, which I tend to regard as useful tools (the machines) In other words, I love my dog and cat, my family, my garden, but not my car or computer.
