Zoe Voshall's Profile...
Hi, I'm Zoe Autumn, (Autumn's the middle name) and I'm 15. (:
I've been on the path for about 6 months, and I love reading and learning about Wicca. I started doubting my parents' Christian-based religion at about 5th grade, and I became a self-proclaimed atheist in 8th grade. I always believed in something though. I believe in equality and I don't think anyone should be placed above anyone else on a spiritual level, so the concept of an Almighty God didn't sit well with me. As soon as I started to really work on asking myself what I believed, instead of looking to other sources, I found out a lot about myself. Before then I looked at Buddhism and all sorts of other stuff. I was even Buddhist for a time, but that didn't really fit me either. Soon enough I found Wicca, and this time it wasn't a matter of trying to change myself to fit a religion or trying to believe in something. It just FIT. It was my spirituality, I just never knew there was a name for it until then. So that's my story. I'm still in the broom-closet, but its okay because my best friend is also Pagan and she knows. I've never been to an occult shop but I've always really, really wanted to. I found Wicca from YouTube, specifically TipToeChick's channel. I have been to shops like bookstores and stuff that sell Pagan things however. That's where I got my Druid's knot pendant necklace, and my Mother Goddess pendant necklace, which I lost, I think as a sign that I wasn't ready then for a relationship with the Goddess (which I wasn't) . I don't think I am now either, although I'm more ready then I was then. I was still atheist then, and now I have a more polytheistic outlook. The more I learn about Wicca the further I travel down my spiritual path and the more I feel connected within myself.
I believe in doubt. I was raised in a religion where doubt was unacceptable and a sin. I now know that doubt is a very necessary thing when coming to know who you are and what you believe. If you don't doubt and question, you'll never go anywhere (besides abusing the saying is believing bias by forcing the indoctrination into yourself and onto others until you believe it - I've been there) . I love reading articles on here and also books, especially Raven Grimassi.
I am physically a teenage girl. I believe that you fall in love with a person's soul, not their body, because we are souls who have temporary bodies, and our soul isn't our body.
My family is Christian/Mormon, but I strongly disagree with that particular religion. I don't criticize or hold prejudice against anyone because of their religion or beliefs. Its just not who I am, but it might be who you are or rather where you are on your spiritual path, and I don't believe in giving people a hard time for that. Not everything that is right for me is going to be right for someone else where they are in their path and I understand that. I was Christian once, but I don't think I ever would've been Christian if it weren't for the fact I was raised in it and very early in my childhood was taught that it was the only way. I'm one of those people who in a sense has always been Pagan. I've just always had the beliefs and when I found Wicca, it wasn't a matter of changing what I believe or trying to believe something, it just FIT. I love everyone and I like to listen to people. When I grow up I want to be a hypnotherapist/child psychiatrist, and a writer/photographer. Some people think hypnotism is brainwashing, but I have a very strong personal belief otherwise, as I was brainwashed my entire childhood. A hypnotist can only put happy things into your head to solve problems the two of you have already discussed. It is something you pay them to do, with full awareness of what is going on. Parents, or anyone else who puts things into your consciousness at a very young age, do it without your permission, without pay, and they can "teach" you whatever they want. What age is too young to indoctrinate a child? The age when they still depend on you and think everything you say is solid golden truth. I am going to wait until my children are old enough to have their own opinions and come to me asking questions about religion/spirituality before I even put that on their plate. My personal belief is that childhood is supposed to be carefree and secular, until they have the mental capability to comprehend and critically think about what is being put in front of them. Otherwise, if it comes from someone they trust, they're just gonna take it.
