I read my first Wicca/Witchraft book (using the slash seperator for a reason) when I was 13yrs old after a mystical experience that was my first initiation onto the path of the mystic. The book was Diary of a Witch by Sybil Leek. I eagerly devoured everything I could on the subject getting into Gardner and Valiente and the Farrars along with a deep study of the subjects of meditation, hypnosis and trance.
Then after years as a solitary before there were books for folks like me I left the fold. I felt largely unsupported and had no real interest in Gardenarian Initiation or formal heirarchical structures of any kind. While at the same time I saw what looked like a dearth of spiritually focused books on Wicca while there where more Wicca 101 books than you could shake a stick at. The last thing I needed was another list of God/dess correspondences or more charts on the symbolism of colors and the Wheel of the Year.
I was 18 and needed to fill out my spiritual/magickal understanding so I lept into Qabala, Ceremonial Magick, Channeled teachings (the Seth Material, Lazaris) , the Silva Method and more complex forms of hypnosis and trancework (ericksonian hypnosis, parts therapy, time line therapy, etc.) , and core shamanism.
During my years as a wanderer I was always Wiccan insofar as my love for God and Goddess but needed to fill out my own personal cosmology and understanding of the way the world worked, where I fit in and how to integrate all of what I had learned into a useful whole. Now at 39 years of age I have returned with a better understanding of what personal spirituality is, the whys and wherefores of magick, ect.
I believe that within Wicca there is room for both Divine Immanence and Divine Transcendance. I am not a nature worshipper though in many instances find a cleaner, egoless connection to the Sacred within Nature. My view of the God and Godess is that they are both personal and impersonal. They are the conscious, living force of creation. I view the Goddess being the womb of all potentiality and the God's energy being that of actualization of that potential. Their union gives birth to all things. I am polythiestic in that I do firmly believe that gods and goddesses do exist as individual consciousnesses of great power and magnificience but I also believe they are aspects of a greater unity that lies beyond them.
Though I have a deep connection to certain dieties, I don't worship anyone in the traditional sense other than the God and Goddess as two halves of Absolute Divinity. I may commune with and request from and co-create with certain gods and goddesses but the idea of head bowed, eyes down worship is alien to me.
I believe in magick, I have seen it work though I am in the camp of those that see ritual as a prop that allows for one to sustain an altered state of consciousness and put one into a magickal state of mind. I believe that the true power has nothing to do with tools, candles, herbs and whatnot. I believe that our magick is a co-creative act with the Divine and that in practicing magick we are allowing ourselves to participate in the endless creativity and creation of the God and Goddess. In my opinion, spirituality and magick have much more to do with how we live outside our circles and gatherings than what we do while within.
Professionally I am both a hypnotherapist and a residential counselor for the mentally ill. I am also in the process of restarting my online buisness dedicated to personal development and self improvement.
I have a 12yr old son who is a great kid. I'm slowly introducing him to certain metaphysical concepts and practices such a meditation so he'll have a spiritual foundation he can always fall back on.
I was torn between my given name Christopher and an internet alias and ultimately chose the alias Sundragon because that is also my name on the Mysticwicks forum where I have become an active member.
