Venom

I am caught by the venom of the Old Gods
It is weighty
Dark
Powerful
Blood fed
Their venom is powerful
It forces me to accept the truth about my life
And leaves me
Bereft
Bare
Naked
Of the lies that I had taken comfort in
Their venom works inwards
Body
Soul
Spirit
Are first confronted
Then confirmed
I am caught by the venom of the Old Gods
It helps me shed my skin
Author's Notes: Sometimes in my reflective times I do not like what I see within myself, and so I have to burn our, like a cancer, the negative attitudes that have been revealed to me. It hurts, but in the hurting is healing.
