Be still heart
Hold peace
Death reaps the beauty of the world
Like wheat on the threshing floor
And we for all our futile raging
Cannot gainsay his gathering scythe
So be still heart
Hold peace
Those who pass beyond our senses
Still speak to us by their deeds
And inspire us, as the eagle soars
Effortlessly towards the sun, to greater truth
So be still heart
Hold peace
Let your sorrow lay fallow for a season
Until the time of mourning is full
Then your joy can burst forth like ripe pomegranates
To truly sing the song of the fallen
But until then
Be still heart
Hold peace
Author's Notes: I wrote this poem after the death of my Grandma, she was the most important person in my life at that time and it seem to me that the Christian Burial she was given was at odds with the way in which she lived her life.
To see her in the Christian heaven meant that her Spirit, her Soul and her Experiences were locked away and unavailable to me, and so I could not grieve.
This poem allowed me to grieve and express my belief that she is still watching over me, and will speak to me where necessary (and she has done so)
