Lilith's woe

You who within the pulse of desire flows strong
Rich with life and promise unfulfilled
Dream your dreams of a fruitful tomorrow
Not thinking of the blood you spilled
Battle hardened upon the field
The enemy broken in the bloody fight
You yell your battle cry with elation
His widows’ fate your victory sealed
No quarter given, nor any asked for
Butchering wounded and dead alike
Did you see your children watching
Their fate in retributions bloody law
Yet I who follow a way far older than time
You call Demon, Defiler, Stealer of souls
I am none of these pale imitations
For dead and living alike are mine
You fear to say my name, as if my name alone is death
Yet in the final moment, there you know me
When faith and fear reveal they are the same
My name, Lilith, is your final breath
Author's Notes: This is part of a story I am writing about the tale of Lilith becoming a demon after she rejected Adam and was replaced by Eve.
