First Rescue

Hush
This is a holy place
she whispers
Long hair falling
over hands cradling
warm soft fur
A kangaroo brought her through
Called her
Knew her
Glimpses of red in green
Her heart heeded
Losing companions
Leaving the trail
Grace ran alongside
Buffering sharp branches
glass boulders
razor grass
She flew
Intent only
on Kangaroo
Angel of the Forest
coming home to herself
She caresses possum
and remembers
her true baptism
