Hope

The heart’s hope
Shy
Fluttering like a nervous bird
Still lives inside me
I try
Not to hide
The despair
Of not there
The home
Where I felt
I might lie
For this cry
also resides
In reply
To my
“I’m feeling nervous”
Is “Why?
You’re old enough”
For what?
A nest of deceit
Or the first flight free
On my own
Never alone
Gently heard
By my kind knowing self
“Don’t be nervous”

I see from his eyes
He is what he says
He walks his talk
If only I
Could,
As I blow him a kiss,
Know fully
The meaning
Of this
