Swaying

As light falls through
My open fingers
I let you go
So gently
That you don’t even know
Like a mother with her child
As she grows
And where the shield
Of my cupped hand
Was shadow
Now the Goddess’ light
May shine
And the flower
Of appreciation
Bloom in your heart and mine
It can’t be forced
Happens of its own accord
And when the time is right
Her will
Is mine
And yours
And little did I know
Till now
That in holding on
To love myself
I was getting in the way
Of the light
That was Hers
Waiting to wash away
All the dark, sad corners
Preventing you
From seeing me
For there
A silken thread
Made luminous
In the sun’s ray
At the end of day
Against the sky
And I
Swaying
Silently
Curled
And held
In my hammock
