Coming Together

She reached slowly
Into the top draw
Of the old wooden cabinet
And the sun shone
Gleaming red and gold
Upon its surface
Through the curtains
I bent down
Tidying up
The toy car left on the rug
And she smiled
Finding the reels of film
Taking them in one hand
Sliding the draw shut with the other
We stood together
My arm resting on her shoulder
In front of the camera
The timer reached zero
And the shutter clicked
With the sun warming us
Through the window
