Caves ; then and now.

In the darkened caves of Lescaux
20, 000 years ago
Lit by smoky yellow flames
Shadows dance on walls
In the dancers' tender grips
Pieces of ochre and charcoal chips
Tracing out their images
Of three little ponies
Today a mother awoken blest
From her much needed afternoon rest
To find drawn with eager zest
Upon the yellowing wallpaper
A picture of a rabbit red
Drawn in crayon;its enlarged head
Looked down smiling upon the bed
Of a child curled up in innocence
