They Lied

When secrets are kept things don't seem right
When lies are told people get hurt
When love is kept secret I wonder
Does this ever stop?
Do we ever get sick of this?
Have I wondered this before?
Yes, I have wondered
I sometimes get tired of wondering
So I ask
Then they lie
And I wondered again
I wondered for a while
Then I asked again
Then they lied
I wondered
I asked more people the question
They gave me their thoughts on the subject
They actually said it was I!
Blah!
I laughed on that thought
Then they laughed at their thoughts
And for some reason
I was hurt
It hurt me to think that it wasn't I
So to get this feeling away
I asked the person again
They lied
They kept on lying
And for some reason I was still hurt
It hurt me to think that
Why was this happening?
What was this feeling?
I hated it with all my being!
It was the center of my loathing!
But I wondered what that feeling was
I wondered during class
And my grades fell
I wondered when I was on the computer
And I got writers block more
I had to get this feeling to go away
So I asked again
They lied
I asked
They lied
I asked
They lied
I asked one more time
And they left
I felt terrible
I felt like crying
I wrote poetry with tears in my eyes
But then that dance came up
I walked around the happy couples
And I wondered
Then I realized what the feeling was
The center of my loathing
Was a word I never dare say
