Ode To Old Ways & Ancient Instinct

Crouching near an open window
In the autumn-cold moonlight,
Alive in my nakedness
Drinking in the night.
Poised and made more fully human
By this animal within;
Sensing every deep nuance
Of night on my skin.
Quicken! Quicken!
Oh Ancient Life begin...
Old Ways, Strong Ways,
Before the days of sin.
The Old Ways are stirring
They fan the Spirit Wind...
Few, those who taste this wild delight
Knowing no guilt, denial or fright.
So celebrate, my sisters of Mercy
You who yearn, so hot & so thisrty.
Crouched at my window, I pulse like a Stag,
Naked and shameless without any fear:
Knowing in night that Old Ways draw near.
Dancing the night on denial's deep grave,
I feel rutish and bold like an old barrel-stave
Steeped in the wine of Goddess-libation;
Wonder renewed in deep liberation.
Earth and animal, spirit and man:
The elements composing my old soul's span,
Tonight in the dance, by the old tree's bole,
By the Serpent & the Lady now made whole.

I wrote this pretty much as is in one sitting a few years ago. Only showed it to a couple of people. Thought it might be appropriate to share it... for what its worth. Hope you enjoy it.
