A Slow River Runs

I am the self
hidden
under branches
in misused directions
but she,
so far beyond myself,
calls for a new unity
like before
when the sun had not yet set
and the nine stood ready in my eyes.
but we were plucked
and scattered
and the dream faded into logic
and i misplaced my song
and the rush of my fountain
ran dry.
but a vision of mother
and dance
stood still in my mind
and slowly awakens me
and returns me
to her
and to ash
in slow steps
but each so familiar.
I know this place
and these sounds.
