all my souls.

The strance dances.
all my souls.
calling. casting. birthing.
the creations of my feet,
fitted through the instruments of my ankles.
i have been distant from them;
limbless
extremities of smoke.
i learned to curl and bend
i slip 'round you,
curl you into my self.
but there are no pulsings;
no beats timing through to guide my movement.
who am i without body?
i am soul (less) ;
less without my form.
more of spirit when each has the other
but i am only one and so
unbalanced.
These strange dances.
shall i chose one?
one throwing of form for my imitation -
are there lessons in these steps?
i will take all thousand of my selves
and cast them into dancing
if the uprising of dust from their frantic rituals
would recreate my first garden birth.
a form of clay.
wholly human. wholly self.
All my souls.
Their strange ecstatic dances.
I am captured in them.
no smoke. only perfect form.
