OZYMANDIAS' REPLY
As King of Kings I need no mythic stranger
To make my epitaph a tidy rhyme.
My spirit soars beyond this desolation
That once proclaimed the triumph of my life.
Here fertile farms and thriving cities prospered
Where proud and happy peasants cleared the forests
And channeled mighty rivers to their fields,
And neighbor nations cringed before my will.
Those centuries of wealth and peace and glory
Have passed beyond the mountains of the sun,
But now my genes are scattered through the planet
Waiting till my spirit lives again
And once again I rise at history's bidding
To forge a greater empire on this plain.
