If there is no question
Do we need an answer?
Can we welcome hunger
While we search for bread?
All we need is kindness
From a true companion,
All we need is shelter
And a friendly bed.

The changes we look for is a river,
Flowing water in the sunlight,
Pink and orange, rose and scarlet
When the seeker's day is done,
When the seeker’s day is done.
If we travel hopeful
With no destination –
If we just keep walking
On the seeker's way
The road will be a river
Flowing always onward.
And though we walk through darkness
We know we’ll find the day.

Author's Notes: Due to WV's automatic formatting, I'm listed as the author, and I couldn't change that. But it's really Shelagh's song. I was the midwife when Shelagh and I met at a songwriting workshop and paired off to write. She's a veeerry spiritual woman, the kind who puts her money where her mouth is --- carrying the mortgage for the "Commons" project on the island where we live.
Words came tumbling out of her and we managed to tame them and organize them. Mostly I was an editor and composed the melody which simply wrote itself.
But it's really Shelagh's song. It's really Shelagh's song.
