Spiral dancing

Age Group: Adult
She stood so still, waiting
Anticipation keeping her taught
Slowly the soft rhythms began
And her body started to sway
Moving faster as the tempo grew
The drums were her pulse
Arms and legs striking each beat
Hips shifting hypnotically
Her head fell and rose
As her closed eyes saw the sounds
Her feet struck the earth
Matching the drummers moods
Air filled her lungs, hot and deep
Her mind flying in the air above
Watching as she danced the spirals
She danced til the sky grew dark
And then on until the stars lit the way
Her heart bursting with joy
As the moments stretched
Blurring while time stood still
She glowed under the silver moon
Body thrumming, limbs afire
Lost in time, elated in the trance
Music filling her every sense
Blood pulsing, muscles thrilling
The moon danced across the sky
As the charge grew calm and soft
Her body calming as the drummers slowed
Her mind came back, her breath grew quiet
As she slowly came back, smiling and serene
