Poem - Inn of the Silver Door

Inn of the Silver Door©
Just over the hill and down the road
Through moonlight's misty veil
The Inn of the Silver Door awaits
Wrapped within my midnight dreams
Candlelight fills the Courtyard
With a soft and welcome glow
Peace and love wait within
If I open up its door
I hear sweet and gentle laughter
From those that wait within
As they share the midnight Twists
Safe from the cold, wet winds
I step within its memories
Lay my pack beside the door
Hang my sword upon a peg
Lean Yule staff at the wall
Mulled wine waits at the fireside
Its heat will warm the heart
Honeyed ale waits at the table
Where my anam cara sit and talk
Looked about and there I saw
The past that's come and gone
All my loved, my wanted,
Within these warm four walls
I sit and chat with all my loves
Share a cup or two
Remember treasured stories
Of our Journeys bright and new
We laugh and sing the night away
Then the daylight gently comes
And these shadows slip away
As leaves blown on the wind
I sigh and stand, don my sword,
Take up my staff and pack
Slip out the door into the cold, wet wind
Never once do I look back
For night comes as it always does
And I will lay my weary head
Find the Inn of the Silver Door
Be happy once again
So remember when you’re sleeping
Wrapped within your midnight dreams
And walk down the road and see the lights
Of the Inn of the Silver Door
Come join me beside the fire
We can share a mug or two
Laugh and sing and then we'll dance
And have our lives renewed
For friendship is life's redemption
Love its great reward
Trust its perfect balance
There within the Inn of the Silver Door
