Poem - Skitter Whirr

Where once Nature's wondrous music played
Now silence reigns throughout the night
Terror lurks beneath the hush
Cruel death stalks ... just out of sight
Dark streets lay open to the beast
The stalking cats and cringing dogs
The skitter whirr of darkling shapes
Melding with black shadows there
Stark windows glare upon the verge
Darkened doorways await the touch
Of taloned hands and sharpened claws
In search of Life among these ruins
But within the thickened silence there
One patch of green waits Their dawn
The gentle kiss of Their sweet grace
And Their touch of cleansing fire
For within that sacred Circle there
Stand Their children of the light
Those that live by Law and Rede
Burning candles of Their might
For Darkness yields and love becomes
The sacred rite of Nature's grace
Casts out the hate and black discord
Forever shines with grateful peace
For the Warrior stands with rune etched sword
The Witch with wand and magick word
Their gifts of love and trust profound
Wrapped within the Power's Spiral
For Life will conquers Dark's coarse weir
If you will but believe in self
Touch the hands of those who know
Ones blessed by Their timeless grace
