Poem - Solitary Thoughts

SOLITARY THOUGHTS
Solitary memories of a year that’s past and gone
Of minutes turned to hours and of hours turned to days
Filled with missing faces and the tears and grief within
Of missing joy and laughter that made each second dark and grim
Their memories are just shadows now, stark in moon’s bright light
My soul still filled with anger that closes thoughts of love
Closure not that easy in the chilling light of day
And thoughts of love and trust seem so far away
Is there a song that I can sing, a prayer that I can say?
That will help me in my darkness, make me more aware
That will shine Her light deep within a bitter, angry soul
That will burn away the darkness and all this bleak despair
Can love be found within a heart that is wounded sore?
Can I find the person that I was before?
Where are all the answers that I need to find?
Are they wrapped up in man’s reason or lost to me in time
Remembering 9/11 from my perspective, written one year later
