Poem - Dark Shadows

DARK SHADOWS
The daylight fades in western skies
Tinged with sweet red glows
The moon breaks out in splendour
Dark Shadows weave to and fro
This life I have is fraught with fears
Like the Shadows of the night
They weave within the moonlight,
Seen, then out of sight
These Shadows are the friendships
The loves I used to know
The Shadows of my midnight dreams
As they twist deep within my soul
No captured loves with souls entwined
To anchor care worn years
Just lonely, dirt, encrusted roads
The sum of all my fears
They’ve come and gone these loves and friends
And they’re leavings rip my soul
They’ve cast me to the Shadows
Within the moonlight’s stilted glow
So when you walk within the night
See Shadows twisting there
Most are souls, some like mine,
There is nothing there to fear
