Some thoughts wander quietly
Along the rivers of our minds
Holding sway above all things
Some are unspoken, urgent words like the crashing waves
On some unknown rock strewn shoreline
Words swept upon life’s spillway, trying to escape, to define the self
Thoughts that show the graceful flowering of a soul
Struggling to reach those sunlight places where love abides
Thoughts sometimes held eternally within, bridled by fear
Hidden behind the stoic face, the fixed smile
Thoughts filled with all the expectations of a life
But surrounded by walls of tears
Giving no purpose to the dreamer within
Thoughts that if spoken lead to healing and peace
Thoughts, just thoughts ... the quiet essence of a life.
