Poem - Life

Life
It’s a long way from Springhill, Nova Scotia
To the place that I am now
All the friends and loves I’ve known
Have made the passing years profound
I’ve grabbed some tigers by the tail
Felt death’s hand clutch tightly at my soul
Saw stars mirrored in still waters
Even felt eternity unfold
I’ve sailed the world within my dreams
Walked silver pathways amongst the stars
Laughed and danced beneath the sun
Held my newborn daughter in my arms
Gazed within the deer’s soft eyes
Flown with the eagle on its wing
Gambolled with the wolf at play
Heard coyote’s laughter on the wind
Touched the wild rose upon its stem
Felt the faeries magick touch
Captured beauty with my soul
Amidst the moon’s bright silver hush
But still I often wonder
What this life would have been
If I had offered you ... my hand
If I had offered you ... my love
