Friendship is made of many things
Of music, love and songs we sing
Of quiet moments on pleasant walks
Those frosty mornings and fireside chats
It’s made of stars and bright sunlight
Of silent thoughts on quiet nights
It’s the bustle of a new borne day
That quiet moment as we pray
It’s the touch of moonlights glow
Of our children’s laughter in the snow
Of summer’s breeze upon the lake
Of eagle’s flight on daring wing
But most of all for me, my friend
It’s the quiet that surrounds me now
The emptiness of these days
Now that you have gone away
No pleasant talks when we meet
No discourse on the sweet sublime
No laughter shared, no twinkling eye
No pleasant nod to passerby
So forgive me, friend, if I cry
It’s my way of caring still
For all the good you’ve done
For all the love that you have spun
Journey well, find comfort there
Within your God’s redeeming love
Find the place where we may meet
When my Lady calls me home
