Poem - Evening

EVENING
I sit and gaze out my window as twilight softly falls
As the gray mist gently creeps over fields towards my walls
The birds are softly singing and soaring on the breeze
And the Owl is gently calling in the maple trees
The coyote’s sad lament is echoed on the wind
And the Raven’s call is heard as she passes now and then
The wild geese are calling, searching for their mates
And the Wolf quietly goes padding by my old farm gate
The flowers gently nod their heads in the tall sweet grass
And gentle deer walk slowly, pausing, as they pass
As the orange sun goes down, it’s the Fathers time to rest,
I often stop and wonder why and what I really am
For I dance within the Circle and sing Her praises loud
And wonder when the peace will come now that she has gone
My laughing loving daughter has finally gone away
To challenge all the Gods and to search and meet her fate
Have I loved enough or cared enough or must I wonder still
Does she still love this tired, old man, who stands so lonely on the hill
For my daughter, Jennifer, married and happy now. May the Lady Bless you and keep you strong and well sweetling.
