Poem - Firelight And Memories

Firelight and Memories
Firelight glows softly within shadows weary gaze
It warms the heart and soul, keeps the night chill far away
But firelight brings memories from deep within the soul
Causes meditation when you’ve opened up mind’s door
It brings back all the sadness and the happy things within
It offers all the rainbows and some things that might have been
Wrapped within the memories is each tear you’ve ever shed
Wrapped within the memories is each laugh you shared with friends
All your loves remembered, each soul you’ve ever known
Each spiteful word you’ve muttered, each pain you’ve ever caused
Every deed you’ve done on each Journey you have trod
Is written there in Dragon’s blood, in letters bright and bold
I sit beside my fireside within shadows that are mine
And gently contemplate my memories wrapped in time
It is hard to find the clarity to dispel the ill found there
It is hard to find the strength to open up and share
It is hard to look within and see the Ladies that you loved
It is hard to look within and face the majesty they wove
Wrapped within the blossoms of firelight’s brightest gleam
And know within this memory that now they’re but a dream
Love’s loss is hard to face but with each fire pain retreats
Each fire that I gaze within lights the darkness in my soul
And allows each day to shine with sweet nature’s gleam
Allows me now to find some hope, within my memories and my dreams
For Catherine and Maude, two bright stars in the heavens. My Mother and Grandmother.
