Poem - Wine, Red Roses and You

Wine, Red Roses and You
Moonlight silvered pathways
Lay twisting through the moor
Over bracken covered fields
To our cottage door
Wild roses frame the windows
Light glimmers through the panes
From candles that glow within
Through the shadows dancing frames
Memories surge about
Warming heart and mind
Bringing thoughts of heartfelt kisses
Your love’s warmth within my arms
As I lift the latch
And gently step within
I pause and thank the Lady
For these gifts She’s given me
For a man alone is nothing
A deeper shadow in the dark
A footnote lost to history
The fire’s lonely spark
For your kiss is but a glimmer
Of the hope you’ve given me
As we Journey all the byroads
Of our futures yet unseen
