Poem - The Traveller

THE TRAVELLER
He was gazing out with wonder, at the hill across the way,
As lights and shadows flickered as beneath Her moon they played
He never even wondered what they did or who they were
For Samhain was upon them and they came to worship Her
He turned, with smile on his face, rowan staff clasped in his hand
And wandered quite contently down a moonlight guarded path
That led him to a hidden vale tucked gently in the land
For a solitary vigil, for this Solitary man
No coven his for many years the Burnings took them all
No laughter, chants or singing with the Lady and Her Lord
Unspoken words within his mind sent gently to Them there
A call with Love and Trust in mind to say that he was here
Two figures wove within the trees, came and gently stood
Beneath the oaks, beside the stream where the old man sat alone
They gently clasped his hands and gazed towards the Moon
A mist rolled in and covered them and They quietly took him Home
For none are truly lonely in this universe of stars
For the Lady and Her Lord await your joyful call
To come and stand beside you, to guide your Spirit home
To bring you to your loved ones within the Mountains of the Moon
