Voices
I hear voices in the moonlight
As whispers on the breeze
Words captured on the winds of time
From places far and near
Some words are filled with sadness
Some words are filled with joy
Some words are filled with teardrops
And some words are filled with pain
Some words call out for justice
Some words demand vengeance’s price
Some words offer others redemption
And some words condemn to hell
Other words cry out in anguish
As people lay dying in the dirt
Other words are softly lamenting
A peace that never was
Some words had cursed the living
Some words had cursed the dead
Other words call out for patience
While other words speak out for love
I have strived to find the wisdom
Spoke by the philosophers of man
But all I hear is fear and hate
Upon these winds of time
