Poem - Patch Work Soul

Patch Work Soul
I remember when my soul was whole
When cast off the Weaver’s wheel
Bright and shiny as the morning’s dew
Unworn by the cares of time
Now buffeted by these relentless years
Patched with joy … laughter … tears
Of friendships both old and new
Of lovers lost and found anew
Stitched with the injustice of man
Wars … disease … the hate and fears
Patched with family cares and woes
My child’s laughter while at play
Coloured by the northern lights
Sunny days and midnight dreams
Winter’s wind so cold and brisk
Soft white clouds and summer’s rain
Tinged with Faerie laughter
Blessed by Warrior’s sacrifice
Made up of Her Midnight’s Twists
Of anothers kind and thoughtful deeds
When I look upon my soul
And see the patch work there
I harbour no misgivings
No fearful … thoughtless fears
For each of us must wear our soul
Tread along our Journey’s path
Live and love the life She gives
Till She grants us peace at last
