Poem - Goodbye

Goodbye is such a lonely word
When it is filled with pain or spite
It hides the magick of the moon
And the beauty of the night
It destroys the peace we find in sunsets
Brings forth bitter, angry tears
Destroys the hope of finding love
Adds loneliness to years
Hides the colors in the rainbows
Creates empty, longing fears
Destroys each loving memory
Of the days that we hold dear
Goodbye is such a lonely word
Better left alone to lie
Upon the tongue unspoken
Or know the reasons why
Now “I love you” don’t you think
Is a better turn of phrase?
Meant to lift us up
Not meant to bring us pain
So if you want to leave
Just say that you love me
Then quietly turn and walk away
And leave loving memories
